Windshield Shop Referral?

Hey All,

So... thanks to one of our friendly "18-wheeler" friends... I now have a monstrous stone chip and 8 inch crack in my front windshield!! Like really... I guess I should have not given the "appropriate" amount of following distance between myself and Mr. 18' Wheelin'... rock throwing machine... cause then, this stone wouldn't of had the distance to do a perfect arc right into my windshield!! Arrrrgh...

Oh well... so obviously, I'm now looking for somewhere to go to replace my windshield. Anyone recommend a good shop? Price quotes? Do you think it's wise to go through insurance... or avoid altogether?

there's a place right next to our body shop (rudy's) that i think is going to become out glass place. rudy highly recommends them and they even give out coupons for them for free stone chip repairs.

Yes. They're called Payless Auto Glass. They are long-time family friends of mine and I've been taking my cars there for quite some time now. They do great work at good prices. I believe Bart has already had work done there (windshield replaced). And although nothing has been formally discussed, we have an informal NVD arrangement with them for all our cars. Very convenient being right next to Rudy's too The idea was to have a one-stop place for body and glass needs. Anyways, give them a call and ask for Elaine or Steven. They are nice people and will take care of you and your car, should you decide to use them.

PS - I really need to make a formal arrangement with them and will try to get them as an "official" glass shop for the club when I get a chance. I think pretty much everyone could at least use a regular place to fix the inevitable stone chips that come with spring

Let me know if they can get a windshield with the black/grey tint strip on the top. Everywhere I went to have mine replaced wanted to give me a blue strip, or none at all. I'd like to keep mine looking OEM, but need a few more chips in it before I can justify replacing it.

PS - pic whoring this weekend if the weather is nice?

The place next to Rudy's hooked me up with the black strip on the windshield, and gave me an awesome choice of brands and prices. They also did an awesome install. Really, it is the only thing I have had done on the car anywhere that was flawless lol.
