Peak horsepower is usually highest at (or close to) redline. At least that's what I've always been lead to believe. So I don't think the power only shows up at 6000K - did you hear that thing scream right through the rev-range?

Very true.

But even with that said, the screaming engine was in direct correlation to the massive amounts of power it was putting down (unlike the majority of those riced out Civics you speak of ).

Take a stock 1.8T - it's peak horsepower of 180 is reached at something like 6300 RPM; that is not to say it's a slouch at any other RPM. Which was my point all along.
