I writing for a buddy at work. He's got a '03 Jetta that makes a clunking noise in the front end when going over bumps. Any ideas? He's already suspecting worn struts (Bilstein TC's on order).

Re: Mystery front end 'clunk'
Straight from the dealer my mk4 vr6 made clunks when backing up under torque. Turned out it was that the exhaust had a slight spin in the install and was knocking against some mounting brackets. Never would have imagined...

Re: Mystery front end 'clunk'
First thing to look at are the strut bearings and strut bushings (the bearings fit inside the bushing). I've replaced twice and its back again (100,000km) i had coilovers for most of the km's so its no wonder why they wore out. Also check the swaybar mounting points and check the sway bar bushings have disintigrated.Originally posted by Z32NutI writing for a buddy at work.
