possible fix?

Hello guys!

my jetta is having some problem with the rear center seatbelt. the seatbelt usually have a plastic stopper, but i lost it, so everytime the seatbelt is pull back, it gets tighter and tighter. and it would not release.

the way i solve this problem was to put a pin at where the stopper is. but i lost the pin and the seatbelt now would not release...

i am now trying to borrow a VW jetta manual to see if there is a way to release the seatbelt... it is getting to a point where the seat is distorted...

if any of you have a Bentley Service Manual.. please help!! the dealership is charging me 250+ for releasing a latch!!

What year is your car? Some 99 and 2k models have a problem with the ratchet inthe rear center belt where there don't release propperly and get tight and tighter, some have to cut the belt to get them off. You can sometimes release the belt by flipping the seat forward a bit and releasing the buttom ring from the clip on the frame. Lift your rear seat up and follow the belt down and you will see how it disconnects. As for the manual it is not going to help you at all in this case, you have to tear the seat appart to get at the ratchet in the seat and the manual doesn't cover that (for ovious reasons).

On my GTI all I have to do is take out the bolt that holds the seatbelt to the frame of the car. It's a little difficult to get the ratchet in behind the seat but can be done without ripping the seat.
