I got my alarm at Audio Concepts mobile on 32nd. Guys were good to deal with, and did a good job installing it. I would definitely recommend them.

Can you PM me with the details (what they added and how much it cost)?

Called Audio Concepts. $442 installed for a standard alarm system and an extra $80-200 for paging. Ouch.

My compustar was around 900. Integrated, can close windows/sunroof from almost a mile away, autostarter, etc. And since you have a remote fob AND a compustar fob, it's pretty safe to put in the blank (mine is going in next service).

Just figure the lock replace is 200+ bucks. And this way you can have a pager to come beat the **** out of them. I'm almost tempted to put my alarm in silent mode so it just pages...

I don't get why a lot of you balk on price - you don't think twice of spending 1000 bucks on dash trim or lights...

Probably because it is an expense that people should not have to pay for and would rather be spent on dash trim or lights.

I actually think the idea of hooking up a couple of hair horns under the hood that are triggered by the alarm would be totally badass...Looks all stock, they bust your lock and BOOM! lights go on around the block hahah

What Blair said about the expense. It shouldn't be necessary. I'm really tempted to go with a blank but seeing as my trunk is shaved, that would leave me with no manual access. I actually view the presence of a second alarm as a greater risk of something malfunctioning and not permitting entry. But we'll see.

My gf has offered to pay half of the cost since I drive her everywhere, so that helps! We'll probably go with a full paging system.

I had that viper after market alarm.... came with my car, but I had the remote die on me and it prevented me from moving the car for a day... also when I had my last bit of alarm trouble VW wanted the after market alarm removed before they would look at my door lock problem... just a heads up

Upgrade lights -> if factory not good enough.
Upgrade stereo -> if factory not good enough.
Upgrade alarm -> if factory not good enough.

I don't see the diff. Almost any car can be opened if you jam scissors in the lock (or smash the window). The factory alarm is to prevent the whole car being stolen (which it does). A lot of people can't stand shock or motion sensors because of all the false alarms - and the added cost. So you can't really ***** about it not being included any more than any other upgrade.

If you have a 2nd fob your factory fob still opens the door. The alarm will go off, but usually you've left the remote in the car so you can grab it and turn it off. Plus most aftermarket alarms come with 2 remotes.

Yes but we are just saying that car theft and vandalism should be something that we never have to worry about, let alone spend extra money to attempt to protect our cars and property.

Exactly what blair said. If I put in a better stereo, that's something I get. If I were to put in a better alarm, that's no real benefit to me, other than making sure some jerk doesn't rip me off.
