My woman crashed my ride this morning on her way to 5th Ave to drop the ride off for service. The car is still driveable, so she made it there. I was just wondering if anybody from 5th ave could give me a damage report so I know what to expect when I get there later on.

Hey James,
I just had a look at the car. Visually the things that will need to be replaced (keep in mind I'm no body man or estimator)
-hood
-grilll
-bumper
-rad support and rad
-Whatever else might be broken inside as the fron tis pushed in pretty good.

The good news is it looks like your fenders and headlights really sustained no damage at all. I'd guess its at least $5000 damage however. Again, thats coming from someone with no expert opinion!

So heres the deal, my lady was driving the car into 5th to have some service done..when on the offramp from 16->Barlow some dumbass in the merge lane came to a complete stop and got rear ended
by a truck, my woman then proceded to rear end the truck....trucks rear end took no damage what-so-ever so my woman just took off after gettin the guys info. He said he wasnt going to go thru insurance and itwas a company truck so he said worry about your own car and took fault for the initial accident.

So my cars at 5th needing 5k+ worth of work done and I just said get the mafucka driveable.This means new rad, rad support, rad fans...maybe some hoses but the car starts and runs fine,just sounds like ass from things rubbing that shouldnt be rubbing.

Now my question is, can this come back to bite me in the ass? Unfortunatly she couldnt get ahold of me when it happened so she didnt go with these folks to ensure they filed a report that ISN'T faulting her so for all I know, shes been found at fault for the entire dealy...i know rear end accidents usually are blamed on the last person to hit so im more than a little nervous...any suggestions?

Hey James sorry to hear about your car, however i just thought i would note that the off ramp from 16th on to Barlow North is a Yeild, not a merge. Anyway let me know what the damage is and i will see if i can help with any of the parts.

You are at fault for the car you hit. If he slides forward and rear ends the guy in front of him, he's at fault, and so on. You don't get hit for the whole pie.

Most insurance companies will look at the the accident as follows:

1) Damage to lead car covered by the truck that hit it 100%.

2) Damage to front of truck 50% payable by VW (they make the assumption that when the VW hit the truck, the truck got pushed into the lead vehicle causing damage to the truck that is not the fault of the truck driver)

3) Rear damage to the truck (in this case, nothing) payable 100% by the VW.

In any case, sorry to hear about your bad luck and hope all works out well.

In regards to can it come back to bit you in the... Yes it sure can I know this from 2 accidents I have been in when I first started driving (just doing my part to keep insurance high for young males ) The first one was with a city truck when I was really sick and did not shoulder check, anyways they said they were not going to do anything… but it gets better…. So 2 months later I got in my last accident (2 years ago now) which was me running into the back end of a Honda, and this is where the key information comes in. A person (to my understanding and memory) has up to 2 years to claim, if he comes back in 18 months and says his back hurts because you ran into him you will have to pay up (although my insurance company said that this is looked at as a very odd thing to have happen and most of the time comes with an investigation to why it took so long for the person to claim) Now this is where it got fun, with the help from my dad we paid for my car and the Honda to be fixed and it all looked good… but out of the blue the city sends me a bill for $3500 for body work done on the truck! Long story short the truck was a piece of **** which had been in many many accidents and they would not prove which one was my damage. But be very careful, and even more careful because it is a company car

I think its 12 months you have to claim, but ya...

and im going to give the truck driver a call today or tomorrow and see what hes doing.

Got my first quote - $5500.
