once u get the caliper and pads, and probably caliper braket off, there are 2 screws in the center of the rotor holding it on.

Yeah my pads are still great but my rotors are so warpped. so i will just do all 4 and pads.

one little screw, philips i think, and it comes off. the wheel bolts are what really holds it. The screw is mostly a guide until the wheel is on.

Hah sweet. I'm eager to change them (for looks, I like cross drilled) but damn if they are still around 40% good. Can't throw away good stuff.

I'm going to check princess auto for one of those caliper tool kits - I collect tools like spring compressors that I only use every now and then. A good excuse to get knowledgable car people into my garage.

THe screw is just to hold the rotor on while you line up the pads etc it really doesn't do much else. I have that little cube rear brake tool and I have to sat I hate using it. You can buy a awesome rear brake tool at http://shop.metalnerd.com/index.cgi?code=3&cat=8 for $45us though.

can you push the front calipars with a c lamp? or have to use tool for both?

Front Calipers are fine with the c clamp, back ones need the special tool.

glad it all worked. yeah, you could use the tool for the front brakes, you just put the adaptor without any teeth on the end, and it will push without twisting the piston.

I haven't had to do my brakes yet (80K, still lots of pad) but I've played with other cars. How do you get the rotors off anyway? I assume the pads come out, you raise the caliper then pull it off, then ???

My front pads lasted for 180,000 KM so you still have a way to go the back ones still looked allright but did both at the same time. Gotta love Highway driving.

You'd think those things would come off easy.... not for me though. Time to buy stripped screw grabber thingy.
