So someone is going to be looking at my BMW. He wanted to get it looked at by the dealer. Will a out of province inspection be the same as a used car inspection? If hes going to buy it here in Alberta he might as will kill tow birds with one stone.

Re: Car Inspection
OOP has to be done in the provice you're bringing it in to. And Albertas is far more anal than a normal insurance/purchase inspection. I would bet a lot of money that BC will require their own OOP at a BC licenced facility.

Re: Car Inspection
im thinking the out of province one will be the most anal of the two, but it expires in 14 days i think, then it has to be done again if the car doesnt sell. If you get the out of province inspection done, I would think a used car inspection would be redundant. A 'used car inspection' is more of an optional thing, and im not sure it follows the rules as closely as an official out-of-province.Stefan

Re: Car Inspection
Then yes, make an apt at the BMW dealer for an OOP. Then before your apt, go to the DMV and get a request for OOP form. It's special, and the dealer fills it out. As Stefan said, it expires in 14 days so you can't sit around waiting for parts etc. The request is 25 bucks or so, the actual inspection is probably around 200 (Beamer dealer might be more, or less). If you are 1 degree out of alignment, that's a fail. If your windshield sprayer doesn't work, that's a fail. So make sure it's all working beforehand.Originally posted by Snoop101ok I should be a little more specific. The car has BC insurance and is registered in BC. I need to change it to Alberta.
And MOST insurance companies will accept an out of province instead of a normal insurance inspection since the oop is more rigorous anyway.
