I've never had any body work done to my car before that wasn't covered by warranty and I was wondering what a ballpark figure would be to repaint an entire car? This winter in particular has been rough to my b6 Passat wagon with a rust spot starting on the front passenger door, front fenders are all chipped, hood is all chipped(well the whole front end is). I'm not sure if it would be better to just repair and paint the door and leave the rest or give the car a repaint(all with factory white). Anyone have their entire car repainted and would like to tell me the approximate cost would be that great so I can start budgeting sooner and get this looked after.

 Re: Estimate of full respray.

It's greatly depends on the type of paint, if you go base/clear, how much you want to remove vs mask off. Some places will paint a yellow Camery taxi for $1000 and have it done in a day, but a nice full Respray will take a couple weeks and could be up to $5k-$6k.

 Re: Estimate of full respray.

Upto 5-6 try like 20-25 it's all about how good the quality you want. Full engine bay, jambs? How much body work it needs? Quality of the paint, urgency etc.
Things like removing your own trim, windows ect can save money also.2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer SS. Daily. Far from stock.

 Re: Estimate of full respray.

This. If you want to spend $2000 at Maaco you more than likely won't be happy with it. I would say around $10,000 as a starting point but don't be surprised when the quote comes out at closer to $20,000 or even higher.Originally posted by stuvy View PostUpto 5-6 try like 20-25 it's all about how good the quality you want.Evan

And be careful of these guys.. Sure they probably know their stuff but if they don't have a real paint booth I wouldn't even consider it. You'd be surprised how much dirt lands in clear coat even in an expensive downdraft spray booth.Originally posted by TheJungle View PostI know one of those "backyard" body guys, does great work for great prices.Evan

 Re: Estimate of full respray.

I was doing it for about $3,500 but I probably would do one again for anything under $6,---.

Yet again, I probably wouldn't do one again anyways.

This too, I was doing the prep then sending it out for a professional spray in a new booth.Originally posted by hooddub View PostAnd be careful of these guys.. Hes really awesome, he does all the prep by himself then rents a booth so the paint gets layed on properly and then baked for durabilityOriginally posted by hooddub View PostAnd be careful of these guys.. How do you clean it? I've always been skeptical of being able to keep a dip clean but this might be a good option for my buddy's mk2Originally posted by R_Ethug View Post^thanks Kris. i'm still happy with mine after 2 years but i need to peel it off this spring and try something new either fix small paint issues or dip it again in a new color
