  • Fuel Pump Replacement

The fuel pump on my 2003 1.8T is starting to go and will need to be replaced. Has anyone had this work done at TuneDub before? Just wanted an idea of how much it would cost and if it would be better for me to order the pump myself (saw it for about $200US online).

The dealer quoted me over $700 for parts and labour so hopefully I can get it done for less at TuneDub..

    Thanks!

I heard a sputtering noise coming from under the car around the back passenger door. I took it the Audi dealer and a tech said the noise was coming from the fuel pump that was on it's way out. The pump is still pressurizing the lines but may not be for long...

The sh!tty thing is that my model year had a recall on the pump and this now is the replacement unit that's about to fail. I'm not too excited about forking out a bunch of money to have the same thing happen again. I think this time I'll have the fuel filter changed as well..

That is the location of the fuel pump

Didn't someone used to make an aftermarket tank replacement pump for 1.8T's? Tyrolsport maybe.

Well...there is your first mistake lol. Give George a call and I bet he'll give you a price right over the phone...I'd still bank on ~$500.

I have to agree that it either does or doesn't work. I have experienced this problem before, and I suspected it to be a fuel pump problem. My mechanic said there is nothing to worry about, so I took his word for it, and everything went just fine.

Tunedub is great, like the other guy said, give George a call. He's really booked right now but he may be able to get you in late next week maybe?

                  Re: Fuel Pump Replacement

Change the fuel filter, sometimes they can clog and cause weird noises from the fuel pump. Mine was making a lot of noise, then I changed the filter and all the noise went away.

Car is still running a year later.
