  • For sale threads gone wrong

I remember suggesting this wayyyy back in the day (maybe NVD times). I also know that I am guilty of occasionally posting OT remarks in FS threads. Anyways...

In my opinion, for sale threads should be strictly focused on the topic at hand.........which is the item for sale and specific discussion regarding the topic for sale. Relevant inquiries regarding the item for sale should be welcomed. Derailments on any tangent should be either split into a separate thread and/or irrelevant posts deleted.

I know this is a pretty tight knit community, we have grown over the years though and I think it is important to keep in mind that it is a forum, not a personal chat. For sale threads have been going off topic pretty bad and stricter moderation + user guidelines need to be implemented IMO.

    perfect example:

His for sale thread has been totally sidetracked with discussion of tire fitment. Wtf?

    Thoughts/comments?

    Thats my 2 rupees.

Re: For sale threads gone wrong

I do agree on the points raised and I prefer classifieds to only be about the item(s) for sale with related posts, however that being said I generally will not clean up a thread unless the OP requests or it is gotten way out of hand or bashing has begun. The thread mentioned is way off topic but nothing that is harmful and might even be useful to some.

    My 2 pence anyway

I honestly don't think that it is off topic at all. Discussions are being had about wheel sizes and tire sizes and the pros of using certain tire sizes. It gives people more information and can help sway their decision to buy the wheels if there is added benefits such as being able to rotate tires for longer tire life or if they can use it on an all wheel drive system when they thought that different width rims wasn't a great idea.

I did not find that off topic at all. Rather an informed discussion related to the topic, I found it very informative actually. Discussion will naturally evolve from the topic of the thread.

I think it's up to the OP. If they are okay with various discussions going on in there posted thread - then cool. If not, ask to keep it on topic and/or have a moderator clean things up.

I agree. Leave it to the discretion of the OP to decide if he's cool with it. Besides, no thread on Eurodrivers has ever gotten derailed.....ever!

I like ostriches...what are your thoughts on them?

Some threads just get derailed. It is up to the creator of the thread to ask it to be cleaned up by a moderator if it is getting out of hand by others.
