I'm sick of it! We should make a section for flaming. We could call it the UFC section. If anyone has a beef with something or if some thread gets out of hand we should put it in there. It should be a members only section so new comers won't get discouraged about joining the club. What do you think? You know we can't stop the flaming so we might as well join in the brawling.

Re: Flaming in threads.
I see what your saying Kris, I'm not dismissing it either. It's just a few rotten apples that ruin the whole bunch. We should give them a place to vent or tighten up the rules so if it happens on a frequent basis the people in question can be suspended or even banned. Closing threads because of poor attitudes and or flaming isn't fixing the problem it's only masking it. Closing threads also makes others mad because if they have a valid comment or suggestion, it will never get heard.Originally posted by KorHonestly... making a section won't stop people who have no self-control from venting in other people's posts. The best thing is that if you don't get along with someone, just don't say anything.

Re: Flaming in threads.
The problem with 'tightening up the rules' is that some people start to flame the boards for having too many rules.Originally posted by VolkstechYou guys kill me!
Also we can't take action against just 1 person since there are often more people involved, its never clear 'who started it' etc. Some of the 'worst offenders' are people who 'react' rather than start flame posts, and sadly these people might think they are doing good while in reality they are not doing anyone much good....
I think we have heard a lot of feedback on this issue lately (also via PMs from people) so I hope some of the posters who like to give others a hard time or react very emotionally will read this post and feel a bit embarassed...
I have been making an effort this summer to keep my own overly-emotional posts to a minimum... I am a veteran of forum flame-wars from way way back

Re: Flaming in threads.
Well people posting can change, I don't know if the mod policy will change, we'll probably chat about it at the meet tomorrow... its not too hard to convince Mr. Ryan to be heavy-handed with the ol' modfingerOriginally posted by VolkstechSo what your saying is things aren't going to change?

Re: Flaming in threads.
Well said Kris. The problem is not just one or two people but how all of us react to them and thus create a snowball effect. As moderators we are in a damned if we do damned if we don't position becuase either someone feels comments are out of line or we are being to strict and not letting any discussions occur on the board. Often it is hard to understand what a post means and if it attacks someone or jokes. The key is to just keep things on the topic at hand and be polite in your posts. A flaming section is not the answer and will not happen.Blair

Re: Flaming in threads.
I don't think anyone wants this to turn into the vortex with over-modding. If it's people we know (ie, not some random trolls comeing to hucklebuck us), it usually clears up pretty quick. There's nothing wrong with a good arguement, and yes even in the real world things get taken personally.
If someone is doing nothing more than swearing at someone else and making no points, then I guess you can always delete it, but I'd prefer to err on the side of leaving questionable stuff for everyone to see rather than overdeleting.
