Fair enough Mark, but the advantage of platinum plugs in a stage 3 running high boost is the heat range.

        0.25 to 0.29 should work...

You can change the heat range with any plug....(BKRE-6, BKRE-7)
EPL uses and reccomends the BKRE..

I agree with Mark, copper is a better electrical conductor than platinum is, it's downfall being that it oxidizes a lot quicker causing it to loose it's conductivity, and as far as I know with most all plugs you can select different heat ranges of said plug type, I don't think it has anything to do with the plugs material.

hmmm, you learn something new everyday. I wasn't aware that the copper plugs were available in a cooler-than-stock heat range...

I'm using platinum in my car....seems to work ok

so i got some ngk bkr6e's as crap tire didn't have the 7e ones but these are good from reviews.. i gapped them to .030 as my gap tool only goes in 0.05 increments i guess i'll have to buy a different one

i should be okay with 0.030 hey? i guess if it misfires and throws codes i'll tighten them up a bit to like 0.028ish

thats a good read! i guess i should have tried to source the 7es since i'm a stage2+ but oh well i'll see how these work until the fall oil change then swap out for the 7s.

considering i haven't changed my plugs in nearly 4 years i'm sure i'll notice the butt dyno difference haahha

If you are stock go with NGK BKR6E, if you are fairly well modded go with 7E, if you are stage III go with 8E. i will find the direct link, but i read something about plugs written by a GIAC tuner on one of teh Audi sites. you are going to replace teh plugs more often with copper, but the conductance alone outweighs the ten minute pain of changing plugs.. not only that but you can buy 3 sets of copper lpugs for the cost of one set of platinum or iridium

                        EDIT: best gap .3

It's certainly not 10 minutes on a stage 3 2.7t car. I'd like to see some data with actual performance gains from copper plugs...

Certainly not ten minutes on a 2.7T (regardless of stage!) .. ha ha. Maybe for the 1.8T

Ive never heard of anyone running two stages colder... at least in regards to Stage 3/3+ A4's or S4's.. (GT28rs-A4, K04-S4) My A4 ran one cooler, while I am on stock temperature on my S4, as suggested by APR.

haha well ten minutes sounded good in my head.. on the ol' 1.8T its ten or less. ill try to find the link for the write-up. for our climate im not sure a BKR8E would be required either.. but when you think about it, lots of the guys doing the tuning are in arizona, nevada or Cali'.. i dont remember the last time it hit 120 degrees in Calgary, and i also cant remember the last time it hit -40 in arizona, cali or nevada

I run one heat range cooler. It all depends on the intake air temperature. Your IC's, meth injection, etc will affect what plug you should use...

Stage 3 is even harder because of the bigger inlet pipes, you have to remove them to access the plugs on cyl's 1 and 4.
