Leaking Cam Seal? (vids inside)

When it rains... it pours!





Leak appears come come from near cylinder 1, behind the timing belt cover. Takes a few minutes after a cold start to seep out. Valve cover is tight.

Any ideas?

Should pop the VC off if possible...

I want a look at the front of the cam seal first. I have a spare for that but not the VC. And of course the VC requires removing the IM and EFIs. blerg

Well, just packed 'er in. I'm sending myself to bed tonight with no dinner... the cam bolt beat me, and a friend, tonight.

Good news is the cam seal is the culprit. Bad news is the cam bolt has ungodly torque holding it in so I need an impact or to just drill the cheeky bugger out.

Has anyone had any luck with the Loctite Freeze and Release to remove bolts?

Can't believe how tight the cam bolt was on there... snapped a 1/2" breaker bar!!

I came this_close to buying another car for daily duties. Just as I was at my lowest point, my friend Mike comes in and restores my faith in my little euro slut with a gentle nudge... :slap: Always helps to have friends with Audis who can lend a hand.
