    Re: Winter Tire Suggestions?

We run the original Michelin X-Ice and have no complaints either. You get what you pay for, and for the price we paid, it would be stupid to say its a bad tire.

I have Federal Himalayas. They are not too expensive and they have been great. They have worn well, I'm on season 3 now with them and they still have 60-70% tread.

I've run everything from hakapeletas, toyos, nittos, hancooks and even Hercules. These michelins are terrible. I had more traction with my summers then these. That being said I didn't pay for them thankfully.

I've had dunlop winter sport 3d's, sailun ice blazer's and pirelli sottozero's this year so far. I've been by far the happiest with the Sailun's, with the dunlop and pirelli's being a close second. For the price the Sailun tires were also one of the cheapest to purchase and one of the only winter tires I'll be putting on my cars from now on.

a buddy of mine has the sailuns on his car and puts thousands of kms in the mountains on them over the winter through revy/rosland/golden/fernie/nelson for the last few years and they are amazing. i cant believe the conditions those tires have gotten us through

Which Sailuns are you guys referring to? The WSL2, WST1, or WST2 LT?

New Pirelli's have really thin sidewalls or should i say had. Trying out a set of Kumho I-zen KW22 studables.

What? Did you break your tires?

Don't really remember hitting anything other that regular crappy Calgary roads. But there are small blisters on all 4 sidewalls. When they had them off to put on the Kumho KW22s i noticed how thin the sidewall was on the pirellis just rolling on its edge and you could crease the inside. I am sure they will take care of it just that no stock anywhere. Kumos are great though way more aggressive pure snow tire.
