Re: My 09 GTI
twas a good long weekend. finally got project trunk-ba-dunk-a-dunk going. decided to go over to my buddies house and had a few friends over.
went to home depot and bought some particle board type material to lay the hardwood in

had to of course cut the board to fit the trunk. used his winter rota wheels as a cutting table lol

got some cardboard to use as a template

once we had the shape we threw it in the back and test fit and make changes so it wouldn't rub against anything. made a ghetto strap out of scotch tape.

started cutting the flooring and laying it on top of the board

the finished product before and after

also, decided to take the tint off which was a PITA in some areas where the glue didnt come off. especially the first window i did. after i got used to it it was pretty easy to get it off with the glue.
this was the first window

this crap helped a lot for removing the glue that stayed on the windows

tint in the rear removed

Re: My 09 GTI
On mkvs the max in the rear varies on different people's cars it seems. The range most people can get at max -3.5 to -4.5. If I was you man I'd throw the car up on stands and max the camber yourself by adjusting the eccentric bolts and refitting, then go for alignment to straighten it all out and ensure its even.

BBS
RS
Wide
Poke
Stretch
Sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you like em, keep them as they are.
Tailor the car to your liking, that is all that matters.
Thats my 2 rupees on this topic!

I'd gladly take those SSR's off your hands if it was <$3.5k :(

Re: My 09 GTI
Max on stock control arms is around -3 i think. You can get -5 but thats with aftermarket LCA's. My choice would be to run the front RS's on the rear and get new lips for the rears making them the fronts. It wont be cheap considering you'll have to get them chrome dipped but if you want to run the wheels I think that's the way to do it.

Re: My 09 GTI
we'll see, i might leave them around and think about what to do with them. i think they're built perfect. but if i really really want to run with it then i might look into smaller lips. I love RS' so whether they're a go or no, it's nice to have a set that looks awesome.
nah i couldnt even get 8 degrees if i wanted to. lol the max on these are around 3-3.5 and i've read around some are 5ish max with the car lowered at it's lowest with wheels. I tried looking at camber arms too but they dont do much. i think k sport came out with one but it was +3 to -3 camber as per their specs which is basically stock adjustments. there's not much out there. Some people said they were able to get more camber by getting to audi LCA's but like i said, do i really want to put that much money just for this set. that money could go somewhere else. although you can also argue that the money on these bbs' could have gone to something else too but i love these wheels lol.
he's running 215/40. i think it's got to do a bit with the picture and the darkness of it. but for sure a 215/40 on a 10.5 isn't a lot of tire. to me i think it looks badass but in that picture i'm not sure i like that look of that rear fender pulled. to me that doesn't look good. but i love the look of how it sits.

Hey Ricky,
Can you not just order a smaller set of lips for the rears? RS's are easy to take apart!

Re: My 09 GTI
Meh just give it some more camber in the rear. If it's doesn't work go back to your old wheels. I completely agree with what your saying if you start pulling the fenders how you can't go back. Besides didn't you have some work done to get the ssr's dialed in?
Nothing wrong with some camber in the rear besides tire wear

Anyways, I'm all in to see the end result.
