Re: Question for the local computer gurus
make sure you get a celeron processor, they speed games up quite a bit. no don't get more then 512mb, cause CS isn't bigger then that, so what will happen is that if you have 1 or 2gb of memory it will take longer for the game to find all of its files in that space and the performance will be worse.

Re: Question for the local computer gurus
Upgrade the memory if it comes with 512M thats not enough, 1GB on a budget or 2GB for performance is worth it.

Re: Question for the local computer gurus
The 729 one comes with a 19" lcd. I figure I'll pay the $30 for a processor upgrade....
Sounds decent to me

Re: Question for the local computer gurus
Going to school doesnt pay off that well finiancially, thats a myth... what does pay off is just being ambitious and working hard.
Anyway, it seems like $1500 is usually what a computer costs. $1000 on Dell will get you a very nice capable machine witn 19" LCD display.Last edited by Kor; 01-18-2007, 05:10 PM.

haha, that totally depends. if he got into the trades right now he'd probably make half a million bucks by the time people his age are finishing university..Plus they're spending money to be in school which they have to pay off.Originally posted by Triple G View PostStaying in school = more money in the long run
Moral of the story? Drop out, do drugs, have unprotected sex with random members of the opposite sex..Or same sexin Mitch's case

Don't know how soon you're looking to get a computer but the one for $729 looks like a pretty good deal.

Re: Question for the local computer gurus
It doesn't have to be an ultimate nerd gaming machine silly, just needs to support CS with decent graphics and decent fps...
PS, dropping out = working full time = more money than being in schoool :P

Re: Question for the local computer gurus
Get a Dell, they can be had for cheap, with decent monitors.
If you're going to turn it into a gaming machine though you might want to go the custom route so things like graphics cards and CPU's can be changed. That's a lot more money though and seeing as you dropped out that might be too much to spend
I'm far from a "computer Guru" goes on this site though.
