Re: Ski/Board Set-Ups!
A snowboard can easily fit in the back of the golfs. What you want though is a board bag, and a few towels for afterwards (just for extra protection. I stand my board up behind the passenger seat and lean it against the back seat. With you having a 4 door, it should be no problem at all. I once went out with 2 other buddies in my MK3 2door golf. All equipment in the back seat with one friend sitting back there too. Wasnt the most comfortable, but we made it haha!Originally posted by flipstah View PostGeneral question: I loathe winter sports but snowboarding looks fun to do recreational.
What are the essentials to get? How can I start? Budget?
Will the Golf be able to fit a board through the center pass-through or are those ski's? I don't want to get a roof rack =(Patryk

Now now, let's not say anything too hasty. It all depends if I can afford it.
. I need to keep my bindings and boots though lol

Re: Ski/Board Set-Ups!
yeah and weight to an extent. i believe a good way to measure is if the board is between your chin and your nose, like how you would measure a hockey stick. but it does all come down to personal preference. i like a shorter board because it allows for better controll. Longer boards typically are better for powder riding.Originally posted by flipstah View PostOooo... Are boards height-dependent?

Re: Ski/Board Set-Ups!
Yeah I think this is generally what they get you to do. I could be way off but depending on your weight you may want to be either on the upper end or lower end of that "benchmark". Though tall enough for the 157, being under weight I had a harder time controlling it and it really slowed down learning to turn for me.Originally posted by danaldson View Postyeah and weight to an extent. i believe a good way to measure is if the board is between your chin and your nose, like how you would measure a hockey stick. but it does all come down to personal preference. i like a shorter board because it allows for better controll. MEC.. even Wal-Mart. For park gloves, get a pair of "Classy's" from most truck stops for about $15-$20Originally posted by danno View PostJust a quick but rather in depths question. Re: Ski/Board Set-Ups!
I like the shorter boards for better control and easier spins in the parks. But they are definitely weight dependant too. Apparently i'm a fatty seeing as I snapped the tail of my K2 board when I had a whole day of powder at Kimberly.

Re: Ski/Board Set-Ups!
Best ski I have ever ridden holds on groomers and floats real well. Stiff under foot but still soft enough in the tip and tail to be playful. You will not be disappointed.Originally posted by onceover View PostBought a pair of Atomic Bent Chetlers last spring that Ill be riding this season. Excited to see how they'll perform.

What boot sole length were they mounted to? Interested, but I would like to know if the bindings have to be remounted or not.Originally posted by asp gti View Postfor the most part, yes, but it also depends on ability and what type of riding you want to use the board for.
