they have some nifty ones. i just dont speed there as its not worth it. the cops have prewritten tickets they get so many speeders. All they have to do is sign them and wirte out the drivers info.

Laser jammer's are legal...and radar jammer's are illegal, at least in Alberta.
I'm sure you're right about the cops hating them, though.

also, pretty much anything in a commercial vehicle is illegal I'm pretty sure.

                  Re: Radar detectors...

I bought my used Touareg, and the original owner installed / had installed a Beltronics RX75 Radar detector, with front and rear laser jammer. I can for sure say it has saved me once (laser), and a few other times with photo radar. The system isn't quite as easy to install, as using suction cups, and power from the cigarette lighter (it has to be permanantly installed, and the detector itself, can be hidden somewhere out of sight from the windows, the system has a 'remote' radar detection module that you have to place up front, along with the laser jammers somewhere behind your grill.

My two cents, It is worth getting the best you can afford.

                    bring this back...

We've talked about CPS not using much radar, if any. In the past, other than photoradar vans, there has been next to no radar in the city limits.

The last few days around hidden valley, they've been going nuts with the radar. I even passed a ghost car that was in motion that my detector caught. Mobile speed detection is pretty rare here, but it would seem like they have started using it again.

Kinda cool I guess - super easy to detect.

It's the new sherriff cars, they seem to have it on all the time. I'm not sure they're actually allowed to do speed enforcement within the city but I haven't talked with my cop buddies since they appeared.

i would expect they are.. they were on Shagganappi north of Country Hills shooting radar off of a tripod, and then I saw them with a guy pulled over on Hidden Valley Drive.
