  • New Key Programming

So up until today I'd been driving around with only one key for my car... for the past two years. I had recently bought another key from VW and thought I could program it with VCDS; which unfortunately you can't - unless you have your security code.

However, rather than pay the dealership every time I need to do this I bought a program that lets me get the code and program the key/immo... took about 5 mins

PM me if you're in need.

I have a vag-tacho adapter but never got around to trying it out (it pulls the pin out of the cluster). I am interested it hear what program you got though.

            Re: New Key Programming

Ya, I've got the same program... version 2.5.

Here's how I was told to check for compatibility with my car...

"pull your flip key apart, check the part number on the remote, Golf Jetta IV 2000-2005 using AM, DC or T remote. If you have the H remote or any other letter P, Q for newer VW, the software will not retrieve the security code or function at all (dual k line)"

So I don't know for sure if this will work on the A4 but you do have the right light in the dash so maybe just check you key fob and let me know if you'd like to give it a try.

              Re: New Key Programming

Hmm, this is interesting... my gut feeling is that the program just disables the immobilizer without killing the ignition and lets you use keys with the proper switchblade pattern.

              Just a guess though.

                Re: New Key Programming

What it does is grab the security code, that VAG no longer gives out, out of your tacho so that you can program your car/keys/immo... worked smooth as butta'

                        Re: New Key Programming

The cable is specific to the program, like vagcom, so I'd need to do it... not that I care to know what anyone's codes are. Maybe I'll just get you to try it with my laptop & if it works you can program your keys too or just take the code and use vagcom.

                          You're both in Airdire.

Hookup like the VAG loverz you are.
