Re: When are people swapping to summers?
I swapped mine over a week and a half ago and have not driven it since because of the snow. I've been using the GF's car.

Re: When are people swapping to summers?
I went to the High Performance All-Season/Winter approach this year. So far the Pirelli P-Zero Nero have performed great with the freak snow we have had.Originally posted by Deuce View PostI agree that Hi-Performance Summers (for lack of a better description) kick-a$$ in summer and dedicated winter tires kick a$$ in winter.
I guess the thing for me is that I find I'm not exactly "driving as aggressively" now as I did when I was 17 anymore. As such, when I look at the Hi-Performance F1's on my car (which are still good for a couple seasons or more) I wonder... is all that performance "really" worth it? Besides, anytime I attempt to even consider going fast around a bend/corner/banked curve/etc. in this city... it seems like there are so many ruts/divots/pot holes/undulations/etc. that it's not even pleasant anyways. I mean... if I lived in Las Vegas... I'd probably rock some autocross tires or something ridiculous for everyday use... but for Calgary?... well... I'm starting to think the extra cost of dedicated Hi-Performance summers just isn't for me.
Anyhow... just wondering if anyone else has given this any thought. As pictured above... it would appear that the All-Season's out there these days have definitely kicked it up a notch or two!
Cheers... Deuce.

The yokahamas Advan S.4 are an ultra hi perf all season and they are great especially in wet conditions I went with them cause you never know when it will snow (this is canada) and I drive back to BC and it can snow anytime in the passes also :sad Heres a link http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....+S.4.&x=5&y=10Last edited by Lars; 04-26-2009, 10:42 PM.

Re: When are people swapping to summers?
When I had my golf, I did a Summer / All Season switch. I noticed the difference then. Currently, I'm running All Season / Winter, and took my winter's off last week. Personally, the objective is Summer / Winter. Best of both worlds IMO without meandering around in the middle.
Also curious about comments on the tire Duece was asking about....I may need to re-think.

Re: When are people swapping to summers?
Has anyone thought of going from a (Summer/Winter) to a (All-Season/Winter) tire combo for our Calgary climate? I've been doing the summer tire/winter tire swap for years now however, in looking at some all-seasons recently... they certainly aren't as boring as they used to be. (see Goodyear F1 All-Seasons below)
Anyhow, curious if anyone has considered/done this and their thoughts. Cheers... Deuce.
