started a topic While I'm In There... 1990 Coupe quattro Refurb

While I'm In There... 1990 Coupe quattro Refurb

Bought the car off a fellow eurodrivers member in good standing, Simon (aka Boy Racer), and have finally started making progress toward my original goal: a smooth running R/S2 spec'd coupe putting down RS4 humbling power.

Car came with a few mods done in good taste (I'm a big OEM+ fan), and overall in fairly good shape for its vintage. It's a rewarding car to drive, especially in the winter, and was more reliable than my B6A4 1.8tqm. So I sold that lump and couldn't be more pleased!

Now to make her (Sabine) reliable, fast and stylish. In that order of priority. With the attitude that if something needs replacement, might as well upgrade anything associated and save on compound labour.

    Mileage: 250,500 ish

Previous owner (PO) said the odometer went out for about 20k KMs before he fixed it himself (found to be a bad soldered connection).

    Installed:

PO -- B4 hood and support, Euro V6 bumper (front)
    PO -- S2 bumper & mounts (rear)
PO -- RS2 projector headlights, relay
PO -- Koni Yellow rebound adjustable struts (front)
PO -- Stebro exhaust & gutted cat, K&N

    -- VVME 55w ballasts & 5000k bulbs
    -- RS2 sway bar (front)
    -- S2 steering wheel
-- Audi Sport rubber floor mats
-- 034 street density strut top mounts (front)
-- 034 street density engine mounts
-- 034 street density trans mounts
-- 034 silicon coolant hoses, aux rad. delete plug
    -- 034 poly snub mount & bracket
-- 034 phenolic intake manifold spacer
    -- 034 7A injector upgrade w/ relay
    -- ARP head studs
-- Bosch Silver spark plugs, new wires and distributor rotor & cap
-- Ceramic coated exhaust header & piggy pipe (satin silver), Painted valve cover (red) a la Impact Coatings
-- Porsche 986 BoxsterS calipers (front), Apikol RS2 machined caliper brackets, Euro D2S8 rotors (323mm) spun inside for CA clearance
    -- H&R 5mm hub-centric wheels pacers (front)
    -- B5S4 calipers, brackets & rotors (rear)
-- Custom s/s poly coated brake lines, a la Edmonton Brake & Clutch
    -- 17" B7A4 S-Line summer wheels, Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, 235/45R17
    -- 17" B5S4 Avus winter wheels, Dunlop Wintersport SP3D, 235/45R17

The following will be a running photo-illustrated commentary of my ongoing issues and plans, and hopefully some in-depth commentary as I believe the devil is in the details!
