guys that have built garages, what kind of slope did you put on the pad? for the sake of using it as a shop, level is nice, but doesn't do much for drainage.

Put the pour off until this saturday. We got the forms and rebar down though.

I got a good deal on an electric heater, so ordered that up to. Its this one:

"The G73 features an ample 17,100 BTUs of heating power with four heat settings and boasts a large coverage area of up to 500 square feet. All-metal construction ensures durability while the included easy-to-install mounting kit lets you suspend the G73 from a wall or ceiling, therefore saving you space"

    - We recommend 4-5" for the concrete if you do decide to bolt it down.
    - Lift comes with either a 110 or 220 motor and bare wires, you can either add your own plug or pay an electrician to hardwire it in. We charge $500 for install, but as mentioned previously its simple to install on your own and should take 2 first timers 2-4hrs.

My parents have two lifts in their garage.. I belive LiftKing. Both plug into the wall, and neither are bolted down. Very easy to use, and they look pretty good as well!
The only thing we had to buy after the fact was a custom metal sheet so the lift could hold a bike.. spanning form one side to the other.

The top lock on the lift shown above is 71" (5'11"), but I do have a model that can lift up to 81" (6'9"). Both hoists are good for up to 8,000lbs and are completely freestanding.

PM with any questions you may have or if you're interested. We do deliver to edmonton and also offer installation.

How much does a decent home system go for? How much head room do you need?

Probably just need it to go high enough for quick oil and tire changes along with some detailing (save my back )

Don't use anything but Ruxal in the garage. The stuff is mold proof and fire resistant. Not only that is it is a much stiffer insulation to it is much easier to work with and doesn't itch like mad. The only thing is you will go through lots of knife blades cutting it

Not sure on insulation. The totem kit description is vague, and I think it might not even be what I want. I haven't ordered it yet. Still thinking plywood for bottom four feet and drywall the rest for the walls.

You couldn't just let the compactor hang out the back of your TDi?
