    Re: Garage Build

Well I finally got the ventilation system up and running in my garage. I had gone with an electric heater and since the garage is well sealed, it would get really humid when you brought in wet cars in the winter. It was hard on tools, drywall, cars, everything. Also, the windows always had heavy condensation. I have now installed this Venmar Kubix HRV unit. It sends out the warm humid air from the garage and brings in cool dry air from outside. the air runs through a heat exchanger so heat from the outgoing air warms up the cool air from outside. The hole thing runs on a humidistat. So far it works really well. the water from the cars evaporates much faster, and the garage windows stay clear.

Installation required 4 ducts. Fresh air in to the unit, fresh air from unit to garage, garage air intake to unit and garage air exhaust from unit to outside. The unit is small enough to mount close to the ceiling and I can still walk under it.

I'm pretty happy with it, and I'm fairly sure I'm still running cheaper than a gas heat setup.

Got it all painted this weekend. I'm fairly happy. Ceiling could maybe use one more coat but Its pretty good. Will get some MDF moulding for around the door and windows and maybe get some pics once that's done.

Sound like you are right on your way. I think I am going to have to rent a storage enclosure to do mine lol Likely not this year though as we are going to put up a nice fence.

Sanded down the first round of drywall mud and got second coat on today. Thought maye I should try to get this garage finnished. Also got some of the landscaping done. Still have some paving stones to go in between house and garage. Cleaning up the mess from sanding drywall will suck...

    So here are the racks...

Super easy to install, and they seem really stable as well. You will notice the white foam on the corner, I figure at some point I would have hit my head or shin.. One thing I did was put the other rack directly underneath, in thought of adding a top on the bottom one to create a small working surface.

Super easy to install, and they seem really stable as well. If you have 10" wide wheels on all 4, it may not fit, but with 8.5's all around I am fine.
