Re: World Cup Football (Soccer)
There was the wide angle camera that did manage to catch the incident. The Portugal player was fighting for inside position and accidentally raised his arm too high and brushed the Spanish defender. Of course the Spanish defender embellished it for all it was worth but it still wasn't red card worthy.

Re: World Cup Football (Soccer)
So WTF happened when Portugal got the red card? 5 video replays and not a single one showed any contact with that spanish defender? IMO that was the biggest dive i've seen of the whole tournament. Unless I missed an angle where something actually happened. All I saw was a spanish player grab his face and go down, No contact whatsoever before that!!! That was a brutal call!

I forget. I watched it at work.Originally posted by rodman View PostI'm pretty sure it was the Argentinian ref.
That shaggy haired Spanish defender, I never remember his name, looks like a hippy. He took a major dive and the ref told him to **** off.

All refs are scored out of Howard Webb.

Re: World Cup Football (Soccer)
I can't stand the diving, so much that I quit watching if I see a dive. Just man up, and charge. Push back, fight for that ball, make a play. So tired of the hunt for a free kick/corner/penalty. That doesn't take any skill, and makes soccer the butt of the joke.

Re: World Cup Football (Soccer)
This is why I enjoy watching the matches that Howard Webb is reffing. Since he has seen a lot of theatricality in the EPL, he mostly knows when to make the right call. Too bad they don't have him listed for Spain vs. PortugalLast edited by snipa_mini85; 06-29-2010, 11:57 AM.

Re: World Cup Football (Soccer)
Some teams are more "theatrical" than others though, no need to single out which ones because stereotypes are born out of continued evidence. I do appreciate that the teams which don't fall at the drop of a hat actually keep pushing on even harder than before. It reminds me of how I played.

Re: World Cup Football (Soccer)
^^^this is true. I'm not gonna single out any ethnicities when it comes to diving, cause i've seen some horendous acting going on from nearly every team. These are professionals. Its time to man up, regain your balance, and fight on, Instead of just hitting the ground and throwing your hands up. F*ck I hate divers!
