Re: Well now I just feel dumb
I asked about TD1, I was given a gentlemen's agreement about it, for whatever that is worth.Originally posted by R-Audi View PostAwesome, congrats!
Next stop, Tunerworks or Concept 1!
(Guess you could try ECUProgram, but since GIAC and APR offer Stage 2 with pulley upgrades, Id assume that would make more sense)
Did they say anything about the TD1 when asked?
Im not sure flashing back to stock is a viable option every time you bring the car in.. plus I thought they could also read how many times the ECU had been accessed.
They will be giving the car to me today, they are prepping it now.

Re: Well now I just feel dumb
You can have the ECU flashed back to stock and avoid detection. All other bits and pieces (exhaust, intake) do not place you in a td1 situationOriginally posted by R-Audi View PostWorth noting on the TD1 status, from what I understand its an automated computer-ECU check, so the only way around it is not ever having your car hooked up to the dealer diagnostic system. If you are having warranty work done at the dealer, this would be nearly impossible to avoid.
That being said.. what fun would a stock car be? You certainly would have choices with both a GIAC (Tunerworks) and APR (Concept 1) dealers in town.

Re: Well now I just feel dumb
I don't have any experience driving or owning an E92 or B8 so I can't directly comment on that. But I always recalled enjoying my B6 A4 over my dad's E60 535xi. Probably because the A4 was actually mine. Personally I love Audis. They're classy, elegant, more tune-able, AWD, and just an all around a more attractive car IMO. Don't get me wrong, I love the M3 but for practicality's sake, I'd take the S4 any day. Just the fact that it's frozen would scare me out of driving it often and I imagine 3M wouldn't look quite right on the front with the frozen silver. When driving a BMW for some reason I feel like I'm driving a ticking time bomb where as I think of an Audi as a purpose built snow shredder, rally and track friendly driver's car. This stigma for BMWs could be developed through personal experience I guess.
If I was in your situation, here's what I'd do.
Since the M is in your possession and it's summer, drive it for at least a month or two to truly enjoy it and figure out if I really like it (road trip!!!). If you do, keep it. If not, sell/trade it in. Assuming you're already leaning towards the S4, own an S4 and maybe build a cool toy like an E30 for your summer torque fix. Good luck with your decision... I'm excited to see the S4!

Re: Well now I just feel dumb
Well it seems like your mind may already be made up and of course you are entitled to make your decisions and our opinions here are just that, but it seems to me like you might just need a little time to gain some perspective. You are in a position that is very financially favourable for your age and your recent loss has a tremendous impact on your life and the motives for your choices seem a bit conflicting and changeable. That being said there is no right and wrong answer here just changing cars quickly can often cost money and something like the M3 might be a collectible investment and perhaps you are not the right person to own it, but perhaps you are. Just make sure you take the time to make what you think is the best decision for you.

That there is, devil eyes are sweet! The only part that got me is they are individual bulbs, not a light tube, so they looked weird to me up close.Originally posted by hooddub View PostYeah so the B8.5 has a meaner exhaust, meh, it sounds awesome, but a proper performance exhaust on a would be way better with whichever you choose anyways.
And yeah the new headlights are pretty badass but there's something so sexy about a B8's front end in your rearview..
I was planning on putting an exhaust on, likely Miltek or APR. Only if Audi promises to not TD1 it.

I'm also interested in DSG, so I'd prefer a later model for less hickups.Originally posted by hooddub View PostDon't know how the McDonalds thing was unnecessary. I lol'd.
I've driven a couple B8's with Cosmos as well as a B8.5 (just to be clear they were always driven responsibly as they were not my cars, obviously)
And I hands down would buy a B8. That's solely based on the headlights, I find the pre-facelift more attractive.
But yeah the B8.5 I drove had a killer exhaust note the B8's have all lacked. Possibly a sport exhaust but could have been stock too. But a visit to pretty much any tuning shop would remedy that disadvantage for the B8 very quickly.
I have one down the street from me, I've eaten there way too much.Originally posted by All_Euro View PostI agree... at least go to Mucho Burrito or something
