Re: Cptnslw
If you decide to take the bag route, I'd definitely go E-Level. From what I know about air suspensions (which isn't a ton), it would definitely be the most convenient for a daily driver since it's pretty much just set it and go... it will take care of the rest on its own.

Re: Cptnslw
LOL. I don't think you are comparing apples to apples there, the accuair setup doesn't include any of the actual bags (struts) where as teh airlift stuff does, bagriders kits start at $1700 but that is not for an e-level setup and the AAC kit isn't e-level
E-level with everything you need will set you back ~$3500 with getting new rear shocks that work with this ride height, wiring, fittings, water trap etc. You need to do a LOT of research before you even think of going air or else you are going to regret it big time. Learn everything you can for a few months, go through tons of build threads and then make a purchase. Because right now i don't think you could make the best decision for your and what you want.

Ugh... Bloody hell, that's a spicy meatball.Originally posted by P Arkus View PostI was always under the impression that a good airride setup will cost you somewhere just about 3 grand. On a slightly unrelated topic, what track do you plan to go to 5 times per season?
I plan to drive around the west coast for tracks and possibly Edmonton. The Golf is my long-haul cruiser/daily driver.

Re: Cptnslw
So I spoke to Colin to seep more knowledge off of him and recommended to go E-Ride (Accuair?) based on others' experiences. Your name popped up actually, Martin.
So judging by the prices of the kits they sell, the budget is $>2k fully working. Am I right or is it possible to get that down a bit?
Accuair starts at $1600 (http://www.accuairsuspension.com/pro...kerswitch.html) ; Airlift is $2600 (http://www.airliftperformance.com/ap...n-mkvi-golf-r/); Bag Riders start $1700 but there's a a $350 coupon by end of March(!) (http://bagriders.com/modlab/products...ANAGEMENT.html). Air Assisted is Canadian and sells a combo for $2500 (http://www.airassisted.ca/osc/lift-c...r3ppsvf5b6ps16)
Setup looks complicated too but with instructions, should be a weekend job. I think.
At the end of the day, the car will only see ~<5 track days per season.Last edited by flipstah; 03-05-2013, 09:52 AM.

Re: Cptnslw
Theres nothing new about that, Nascar used airlift products in the 50's. Air suspension manufacturers are just beginning to market them as a viable option because people think coil overs are the only way to go for tracking your car. That being said, we don't even have a track in Calgary so there's not much to worry about.

Re: Cptnslw
I've never really read too much about lowering springs, so I'm no expert. I'm not too sure who sells the Euro springs but I know that APR sells the VWR springs. I would ask someone who has taken that route about what the ride quality is like. If you just do lowering springs, you won't necessarily have springs that are means to go with the stock shocks/struts so they may actually ruin the ride quality. Although I would assume that the VWR and Euro springs would be the best bet to go with the stock shocks/struts.Originally posted by flipstah View PostWhat about possibly just changing the OEM springs to Volkswagen Racing or Euro springs? Any experience with that?
It'll give me a little low that I'm looking for with OEM ride quality.
I was just on the APR website and I noticed that they actually make VWR coilovers now... some with and some without adjustable dampening. Those could be worth taking a look at.

Re: Cptnslw
Reading more about air suspension and it seems like it IS possible to track the car with a dedicated set.
I find coils too harsh and air suspension gives you an unbeatable ride.
Or I can just leave it stock and make it sound meaner. Who knows?

20% off MSRP and includes shipping. Very good deal IMO.Originally posted by Kg810 View PostNice.. how much discount are they giving on the group buy?
No plans on lowering?
I was thinking air lifts but I don't know jack about air suspension so doing research on it right now (one question, being able to do track days with air suspension).
It'll either be exhaust or air bags as my last BIG plan for 2013.
Anything I couldn't do will get pushed to 2014.
