Exhaust mod is lesser PITA. Also, my car isn't lifted status right now... Looking alright stock height. But bags are so cool!

I agree with what people have said on both sides. If you have the money and/or resources to go bags, go for that. If you want to save some money for other mods and arguably get better performance, go with coils.

If you can't decide and you won't actually decide until a year or two down the road, leave it stock or pick up springs for now. I personally went with springs for now because - A) mortgage/bills/gf B) no way I wanted to drive around 4x4 status until I wanted to fork out money for another setup.

Definitely will research more about this and looks like it's a definite 2014 project.

I'll just focus on getting the car ready for Driven.

I'm with Pat. That's why I decided to take the coilover route rather than bags. I have some of the most basic MK6 coils and have no regrets. I would maybe opt for coils with adjustable dampening next time but I won't be ditching my current coils for some.

Air ride may do very well in corners, but as i've mentioned, to achieve that, you need to put in hours of research on getting the proper setup, and spend a sh!t ton more money to purchase it. Posting a video praising a product when the video is made by the company selling the product is easy to do. Go out and find some real life testimony from people who have driven their bagged cars hard around corners and see what they say. For the budget that most people can afford to go air ride with, most of them would ditch it if they wanted to drive their cars hard and go with a good set of coilovers

My opinion is decide what you wanna do with the car. If you want it to look good at shows, invest in air. If you wanna have fun with it and drive the living sh!t out of it, save yourself the hassle of air and go Coilovers. Look at it this way...

Scenerio 1:

Cost - $3500
Setup - good air ride
What does it take - hours upon hours of reading, learning about airride, deciding exactly what setup to go with, etc.
What does it do - makes your car look pretty at the show

Scenerio 2

Cost - 3500
Setup - KWv3's ($2400) or Bilstein PSS10's ($2000), adjustable control arms, sway bars, and probably a unibrace (or any sort of brace for your rear end)
What does it take - a weekend of your time with a friend to help you install, numerous beers over 2 days
What does it do - doesnt look as pretty for car shows, but puts a big fvckin smile on your face when you whip around off ramps and twisties.

Whichever way you look at it, it all depends on what you wanna do with your car.

Here are the kit that you would be getting, i couldn't find anybody else who offers a full kit for the golf R with e-level.

I would recommend getting correct shocks that would match the spring rate of the bags (OEM shocks might blow out early), water traps, fittings, wiring for the compressors, an upgraded OB2 compressor instead of the viair ones

LOL. I don't think you are comparing apples to apples there, the accuair setup doesn't include any of the actual bags (struts) where as teh airlift stuff does, bagriders kits start at $1700 but that is not for an e-level setup and the AAC kit isn't e-level

E-level with everything you need will set you back ~$3500 with getting new rear shocks that work with this ride height, wiring, fittings, water trap etc. You need to do a LOT of research before you even think of going air or else you are going to regret it big time. Learn everything you can for a few months, go through tons of build threads and then make a purchase. Because right now i don't think you could make the best decision for your and what you want.

Right on the money. Still doing my reading on this topic because it's WAY more complicated than I thought. There's air management systems, gauges, swtiches.... Errthang but the kitchen sink.

Maybe I'll leave this project for 2014 as I become more knowledgable about it.
