My contractor phone nerd buddy has used dozens of phones and until recently the iphone just didn't cut it for exchange calendar convenience and email features. But with the iphone4 he says he was 50/50 vs the torch - both were awesome and did everything he wanted. Iphone has a nicer screen, torch has the keyboard. He also already has an ipad so the huge iphone app library was a wash. Hates Itunes.
9700 little more than the curve I thought... nicer screen, proper camera, flash, I thought it had a newer OS or at least a better/newer interface. I don't mind weight of the camera, heavier the better so I know its in my pocket.

I don't pay for cellphones; I use what work will pay for and to that end until something trumps BES the BBs will continue to come out on top.

I run our bes and iphones work fine for pushing/sync'ing with the email. Not perfect for accepting meeting requests etc but unless your company has special software or weird security req's the iphone4 works just fine for business IMO (finally!). Other than not syncing notes.

Haven't tried a droid but I'd assume it would do the mail/calendar etc just fine?

If u went with an android or windows phone, you will be able to play more video formats, but have less space and control.

Also, if you u jailbreak the iPhone, you can play any video format if u wish.
yea I think jail breaking might be the route to go, it just pisses me off because on my cardio days at the gym I would love to have a vid to watch during the 40+mins im on the bike but spending time converting it the night before is a huge pain, I don't know if I just have an inefficient converter but it generally takes 30mins per 1 hr episode to convert which is incredibly unreasonable. I never worry about space on it either, although my ipod touch is only 16gig I never have more than 1 episode on at a time (if ever).

I am wondering though (as Im not very tech savy) but what constitutes an "efficient" vido format. I watch old series (nothing in HD) on my laptop and people "offer" them in both mp4 and .avi format and the .avi format ones take WWWWWAAAYYYY less memory to run and are generally much better quality than any of the mp4 format versions i've found. Don't know if its a quicktime thing maybe? i've just always found it is painful trying to play anything on quicktime on any computer i've owned.

Geoff for security settings with iphones you can have security settings push down via Exchange server activesync.. at work our internal systems can brick our iphones if need be just like a lost BBY.. forced to type a password to unlock, etc

i've never had issues with my 4 with meeting requests to date

with the android 2.2 moto droid-x a client of mine uses i set it up 1st go onto exchange 2010 and zero issues syncing anything back to it.. worked perfect

OOh that's good news - before you had to do it via the apple site just like a home user would.

                          Re: Let's Talk Phones

Non-BES phones don't (entirely) allow for app loading policies, web filtering, or (in our case specifically) internal network access to custom web apps, or recording all mails and communications into the 'compliance journal' (I know Win. mobile phones will, but I don't know about the others).

The custom apps is more of a 'one off' kind of requirement but most places I have been at like to have their smart phones on their websense (or whatever) so they don't end up becoming roving porn facilities.

Not that I am against porn... Not even for a minute. Unless the chicks are gross.

                              HDMI is a restrictive format.
